With renovations, the hotel had 650 rooms and reopened as the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in 1979. At various times it went by other names before finally being bought by the Best Western hotel chain. Sitting on land that once occupied the 180-room Flamingo Capri motel (located north of the original Flamingo Hotel), which was built in 1959.
